Fluorescent Tube Recycling
The introduction of the Hazardous Waste Regulations in 2005 states that fluorescent bulbs and tubes cannot be sent to normal disposal sites because of the mercury they contain.
Here at Site Clear Solutions we can collect your spent fluorescent tubes and take them safely away to be treated and recycled in accordance with the WEEE recycling scheme. The bulbs are taken to facilities which are approved by the Environment Agency. Our customers are supplied with a variety of different containers in which they can store used tubes until we visit to collect them.
The Process Involved in Recycling Fluorescent Tubes
We use crushing equipment to dismantle the bulbs in order to separate specific components, such as the mercury and glass, for recycling. This is the most environmentally friendly way to recover the hazardous waste materials to be re-used.
